Part of the table service created for the 04 December 1976 Coronation Banquet of Emperor Bokassa I of the Central African Empire. The set includes a flat plate, soup plate, and bowl in blue and gold porcelain, manufactured by Bernardaud (Limoges, France). The cut crystal wine, champagne, and liqueur glasses were made by Baccarat, while the silver and golden spoons were made by Cardeilhac and include a Minerva hallmark. Each piece bears the imperial crown of Bokassa I and the emblem of the Central African Empire.
Additionally, important dignitaries attending the lavish coronation ceremony were gifted a commemorative bronze medal and a miniature gilded reproduction of the eagle-shaped imperial throne based on a model by French sculptor Olivier Brice and cast by a foundry in Gisors, France.
The medal was manufactured by Maison Arthus-Bertrand. Its obverse displays a relief of the crowned emperor, encircled by the words "BOKASSA Ier EMPEREUR DE CENTRAFRIQUE" and the date of the coronation "4 DEC 1976." At the bottom, "REVOL. 1977" is engraved in a smaller font size. The reverse displays the coat of arms of the empire, and the words "EMPIRE CENTRAFRICAIN."
