Adventurer-Founded Monarchies

The term adventurer can be limiting, derogatory, and deceptive; less so entrepreneur or explorer. Regardless, these would-be monarchs sought their luck in faraway lands. Indeed, one of the longest lasting monarchies in our collection—the independent Raj of Sarawak—was established by an English adventurer. Others were varyingly unsuccessful.
